As professionals with many years’ experience in maximising the return that both we and our
clients are able to achieve through rental, our objective has long been to sustain a model capable of enabling this.

Our model at Charles Lucas Housing involves us maintaining hands-on working partnerships with
Local Authorities and County Councils, in which we assist them in housing families in need or financial hardship.

The funding available to these agencies to house such families makes it practical for us to lease private flats and houses from landlords for periods of 1-5 years, at rates which provide a return significantly in excess of market rents.

Supporting Social Housing

While investment return is always of primary concern to us, we are also extremely proud of the social value of our model in assisting in housing more vulnerable members of our communities. All the while monitoring the upkeep of the assets we have leased, our own Housing Officers work hand in hand with their opposite numbers in local government, ensuring both that the system works effectively, and that the people being housed are comfortable in and capable of maintaining their temporary home.

Our Story

Our business has evolved over a quarter of a century into today’s unique service for investor landlords, with low risk high/return property asset management, capable of underpinning long term successful investment.

Our own startpoint as investors

Charles Lucas Housing started life in 1997, quickly establishing a successful mortgage broking business. At the same time, the business’s partners began investing in property throughout the South East, refining a property investment model in which cashflow/rental income could be successfully secured.

Helping our clients prosper

As a mortgage broker, we soon found investor clients looking to us to arrange buy to let mortgages on properties they either owned or were seeking to purchase. It was quickly clear, however, that the financial returns on these properties would fall below the levels required by our own blueprint model for successful investment.

As a consequence, we soon found ourselves sharing our own approach with our investor clients, increasing the sustainability of their investment. We rapidly realised there was a clear gap in the market for a service of this kind, and began to formally offer our service to our mortgage clients.

Since 2012, we have refocused our business to become specialists in providing a property investment service for investor landlords in which the highest priority is placed on financial security, with the total elimination of rent arrears or voids. At the heart of this service is the delivery to both landlords and letting agent partners of returns which are over and above market rents.
